True, I understand your point of view. But lets face it, it wouldn't
have hurt this guy to apply a voltage and just see what current the windings
sucked. No inductance bridge required. There's usually another way. Being in
electronics is like being a machinist, it's all about the little tricks you
learn. I wouldn't take apart a stepper in the RF drive of a Magnetic
Resonance scanner, cuz I want reliability, but in a home CNC machine, I
wouldn't hesitate. (I hope you charged the gut for the stepper drives. )
