Stepper Dissasembly

Quoting from the brochure included with an old "M" series
NEMA 34 Slo-Syn that was still in it's unopened box:

"Motors should not be taken apart. Removing the rotor will reduce the
output toruqe 5% or more when the motor is reassembled and the
permanent magnet will pick up steel chips"

Sounds like there are consequences, but it may be worthwhile to risk
them in circumstances where dissasembly seems necessary.

Next question: can a triple stack size 34 motor really be only 300
oz-in? M093-FD-339 - 300 oz in, 4.4v, 3.5A. Looking in the current
catalog, all the motors of this size and approximate wattage have the
same rating, 450 uni/550 bipoar for both windings on. I could imagine
the design improving somewhat since these left the factory, but 50%???

Won't really know till I hook them up to a drive. And yes, it is
going to be tempting to go in and rewire to run them bipolar-parallel.
