Hey friends,
it sounds like stepper motor reconstruction is similar to the
reconstruction of vacuum pumps. It's a complete lottery,
with a change of less than 25 percent to get back to 80%
of the original values. Even if you have a rotary rectifier.

As an non electromecanics who fools around with quite a few different
things that I sometimes shouldn't.
I leave the decision to the experts, so if Mariss says you make more
damage playing with the motor he is probably right.
But if you have the theoretical knowledge, the basic equipment and some
experience then you may play with it as Art says.

In the words of one of my former bosses (motorcycle repair): "Most
motorcycles I have to repair not because the broke down,
but the guy's started to tinkle with them. Not wanting to know,
its one thing to dismantle, but a complete other story to
reassemble so it will work well again."
