You could probably shave a little material off your end plate to allow some
adjustment. Make sure the shaft isn't bent. If there is junk in there, it can
be a bear to remove, but shoving pieces of stiff paper between the rotor
and stator may pull some of it out where you can pick it off.

Ceramic magnets may not cut particularly cleanly on machine tools.
Grinding magnets will make more defiantly magnetic particles. Neither
sounds very good.
