On point (2), it definately was tongue in cheek mixed with black
humor since it relects the state in which we all seem to live now. It
seems every decision if not every word one makes or utters anymore
must pass thru the filter of "who will sue me for this?". This is an
insiduous self-censorship which stiffles creativity and free speech.
We are all poorer for it.

Point (1), any number of items we use can fail catastrophically if
abused. Place a crowbar across your car battery terminals and see
what happens. Eventually the ones addressed in point (2) will see to
it that we are made safe from that as well.
