Most likely, the CPU has a timer set up as a PWM circuit, so that a count limit value is put into the timer
register, and after that number of input pulses (from some clock) the timer output goes low. Then it goes
high again when the counter overflows. So, there is just one bit going to the servo amp, and when the
duty cycle of this signal is exactly 50%, then the servo is commanded for zero motor current (or zero
velocity, but I suspect these are not velocity servo amps).
