It looks like your right. I just tried shielding the Z axis stepper cable
and making sure this was connected all the way back to the controller case
and still had problems.

I'll try connecting the speed control to a different power leg.

Is there any plug in filter I can buy to shield the noise from the triacs ?
If not is there a better type of speed control I should buy/make ?
