You have to be logged in as root, first. If you've done that,
then you have to make sure you are running a version of the EMC
program that is compatible with your machine (ie. parallel ports
and a few other things). You might want to run ./sim.run first,
which doesn't use the RT functions, and doesn't need any hardware
access.

If you haven't read the applicable hardware compatibility lists, you need to

read them. I think mice with extra functions cause problems.
