Hello,
One of the main topics of this group (according to the CCED title) is
EDM, which is Electrical Discharge Machining. So a look/search
through the archived posts online at the group website may get you
started. But...
In this case, I'd sure look at the cost of having this done by
someone with a hi-dollar wire EDM. At least at first, and likely for
a lot longer, IMO.
I'm all for rolling-your-own, but there are times when it just
doesn't make sense. You need a GOOD wire EDM to be successful (again,
in my opinion). The re-threading allows unattended operation (making
possible the holder block with multiple coils processed per machining
cycle), and the large "depth" of cut (Thickness of material you can
cut) of a commercial machine are what make the edm process a good
choice, and also what will likely make it an affordable alternative.
