Yo Cyril;
Do you have a mill?
Wheather you do or don't, you could hot rap the rod around some steel round
stock, sort of like the line on a fishing reel, using a torch if you don't have
a forge to heat the rod. Then you can do it old style, by using a hot chisel to
cut the rings, or let it cool, clamp or even tack weld the ends to the rod to
the round stock, and if you have a mill, use a slitting saw to cut them all in
one pass. I'm not sure what the limit is, but slitting saws make a _very_
narrow cut.
