Ballendo,
Sorry to take so long to reply but 'tis the season. The "C" ring machine I
was thinking of did cut straight but I am not sure if we had modified it. I
have another one around here somewhere and will find it in a day or so.
There are many machines that bend and cut wire in all kinds of shapes. I
spend alot of my time making and modifying them. Actually a ring bender is a
pretty simple machine to construct since there is one one bend and it is in
one plane. I don't think it would need to be straightened very well and
square cuts are easy to do. I suggested looking around and buying the wire
on a spool because it costs so much less. You have to pay to have someone
straighten and cut it and you don't need it welding rod straight and you
have to cut it again. I guess my view is different because I deal in
truckloads of wire and make clips and spirals of of it by the ton. To finish
answering your question a "hog ring" is really not the same as a "C" ring
though they are often both used for cages. Sorry for the ramble.
