Ah.
The G210 takes one pulse from the indexer (computer in this case) and
turns them into 1 or more (up to 10) pulses. The G2xxs are, at their
precious little hearts, microstepping drives. They produce 10
microsteps per motor step. This is how they can dsrive a stepper so
smoothly, as I am sure you already know.
A G201 (or G210 in multiply x 1 mode) will take one indexer pulse and
translate that into 1 microstep. Ten indexer steps == 10 microsteps
= 1 motor step.
A G210 in 10x mode will take one pulse from the indexer and turn it
into 10 microsteps. That 10 microsteps translates to one full motor
step.
Nifty.
I presume you know why this can be "A Good Thing" tm. If not that
can be answered too.
