Dave,

Promise not to laugh...

Clothes Dryer vent hose. Yes, it's too big, ugly, and light duty...

Also cheap, widely available, and VERY compressible.

And if the diameter is too big for ya, take a trip to your
local "rubber and hose" industrial supplier. There are more than a
few commercial hoses designed to compress in the length direction.
This will also be a source fo rthose with higher operating specs, as
many different types of material are used and available as well;
including oil resistant types.
