Re: laplink for cnc work

Reporting success in linking laptop (Win98)to PC (Win 98). Thanks to
Jerry for suggesting Link Maven, and to Kent Briggs for providing the
shareware. It was a breeze test transfering some files (including
turbocnc, etc.)

Now to try to link to a PC with WinXP. Hi Jerry, do you anticipate
any difficulties?

PS. Made my own patch box for the laplink cable. All I did was cut an
old parallel port cable, soldered the 25 wires to a PCB corresponding
to the 25 pin "SIL" (single in line) socket (no electronic wizard so
don't know if SIL is the right term, but is is like a single row of
those DIL sockets for transistors. do correct me if I'm wrong).

This arrangement was mirrored on the other side. Now all I have to do
is to push in jumper wires into the right socket for any pinouts
required. And IT WORKED in the case of the "laplink cable" Now to try
to see if this will work as well for that jungle of incompatible
pinouts of different controller software. How I wish there was a CCED
standard for controller softwares.
