This is absurd! Anything that is posted to this list should be
considered public! Is Yahoo guilty of copyright infringement for
making the archives available online? What's the difference if
someone merely makes searching them easier, for the cost of
providing them on a different medium? Anyone who has a problem
with archives being kept of their contributions should not
participate here!

By the way, whoever's got a problem with this should turn me in to
the authorities. I may have copied some old list messages to a CD
and charged someone a nominal fee to cover my costs. Contact me
offlist if you need my address to give to your lawyer.

I am retracting my offer to provide message archives via CD or any
other
method.

I was informed by some people on the list that I am violating
copyright laws
by providing their messages on a CD without their consent.
Due to this new information, I will not be selling the message
archive CD.

Selling CD's was NOT going to be a money maker! I offered the
archives for
free if someone else would host them (check the list history). My
motivation
for selling the CD was clearly stated on my website or in past
e-mails. I
was approached by people on this list to provide a CD so they
could perform
searches offline. I did not dream up this idea on my own.

When I offered to provide archives at my cost, there were no
complaints.
When I tried to cover my costs, I have people coming out of the
woodwork.

At any rate...
Sorry for the rant, and sorry for any inconvenience caused by this
CD offer.

Please contact me off list if you have any questions, comments, or
concerns.
