Hi,
Well...
For starters, I didn't suggest any of the mavens. I've used LapLink in the
past, and now have PCLinq which uses USB ports. I just bought a "new"
computer (NCR 3259 - 166Mhz PentiumMMX, 32 Mbyte memory, 1.5 gig hard drive,
2 serial ports, 1 printer port, and 2 USB ports) for CNC and can use the USB
for file transfer.
Secondly, I plan on skipping Windows-XP so I have no idea how any of these
communications programs work with it. Since it tries to isolate the machine
from the user's software, I wouldn't be surprised if the older versions of
any data transfer software had a problem with it.
FYI, Microcenter (Columbus, Ohio based, stores in Cleveland, Cincinnati, and
out of the state) is offering complete computers - CPU box, keyboard,
Printer, monitor for $100, CPU box for $30. These are 'off lease' and are
essentially 'bare bones' machines.

|
|It's FREE ware.
