Dan,

That's fine with me, take your time. I have no idea where he set the origin
either, I will try to scan the information I have and email it to you off
list. I read the article last night and it does not give any information on
how he calculated the sine wave for the track. It might be in his patent
application, I will search for that tonight if I get a chance. I was not
questioning the formula, just the difference in results which I assumed was
a difference in origin points.

I am beginning to under stand why Brayton Paul had a shop in Ohio cut the
tracks for the 10 sets of castings he made. He had no CNC capability and
had attempted to cut them using a bell crank mechanism driven off the lead
screw on his lathe with a Sherline lathe head mounted to the cross slide to
drive a milling cutter. He stated in the article that this did not work out
so he found a shop to cut them for him. I am convinced that the cam track
can be cut using CNC and a rotary table to a reasonably high degree of
accuracy.

I am going to build a mach up of this thing just to see the motion. The
piston rotates on a splined shaft while the track converts the linear motion
of the piston to rotary motion of the crank shaft.
