The controller function of DeskCNC is a very small part of the package
and not something that everyone will want to use. Without the controller
DeskCNC is essentially the functionality of RasterFratz, DeskPCB,
StlWork Lite, Deskam, DeskArt, DeskEngrave all rolled into a single
bundle. It can output G-code and you can alter the post for whatever
controller (like Mach1) that you want to use. If you desire you can add
the controller board to it for $50 (free through Dec 8) or a controller
board with a built in 3 axis 2 amp microstepping chopper drive (yes that
would make it an allegro 3977 based unit) for $150 additional. At that
point DeskCNC is both your CAM software and your controller.
The controller portion of DeskCNC can be used on all 32 bit versions of
Windows and does not require a huge amount of resources. It also is not
at all picky about hardware. There will be a digitizing probe out soon
that connects directly to the DeskCNC controller.
