I get a lot of that still. "Windows can't do CNC", I work on multi million
dollar machines that run under Windows XP and 2000 that control MUCH more
dangerous items than CNC. Try 100,000Volts at 1 amp or more generating
X-Rays, while stepping 10-20 stepper motors around while the X-Rays are
being controlled. The motors revolve radiation units around your head or
generate magnetic fields that can suck your watch off your body. All
controlled by the new standard (Windows XP), even Unix has been dropped by
a great and ever increasing number of companies in the control of large
scale machines. The Future?, Windows...absolutely no question about it...
I don't know a single OEM not trying to get out of DOS for his software
needs. Dos is going the way of the dinosaur very soon. (Can you still buy
it?)
