through XP all seem to work fine. It has the functionality of an
updated of DeskArt, and RasterFratz, Deskam, DeskEngrave, StlWork
lite, DeskPCB, and DeskwinNC in one software program for $300. It
also has contact probe software support implemented, with a laser
scanner very close behind. The controller/driver/probe are extra cost.
The controller is via a serial port and is available as a step and
direction controller version, or as a controller with 3 axis 2 amp
microstepping bipolar chopper driver and an onboard regulated power
supply (requires a 24 vac transformer).
Both boards can also be run from a USB port. The pulse rates range
from 30 - 40,000 SPS, but throughput is limited to around 300 blocks
per second on the serial port. We expect to be able to get 5-8 times
this throughput rate on the USB with a slight modification to the
controller logic. I have a USB setup here with a Sherline hooked to
the controller/driver board, a transformer and wires.
It is in beta, but most of the issues left are making things work
together, not making things work.
