Hi Luis:
I just went out and bought one!!!
I looked at the plans from Robert Langlois in Home Shop Machinist ( I still
have the compiled articles) and I decided that it would be cheaper to buy an
E-Bay special.
I was right, I think.
They are available for less than a CNC'ed Sherline.
Everyone is dumping their manual machines and going with CNC versions (those
who are still in business, given the way our manufacturing economy is being
gutted) so a manual machine can be picked up for incredibly low prices.
I've seen ones go for under $1000.00.
I can't buy the materials to make one for that!!!
A good one for the HSM is the Hansvedt 150 B; it's a nice little benchtop
machine with a very nice control for its time.
It is capable of good fine burns with copper electrodes (Trust me....you
don't want to get into machining graphite electrodes in an HSM environment).
Just be aware that EDM is expensive to run, and stinky.
Hydraulic machines are also quite noisy.
Cheers
Marcus
