We use only carbide for plastics. That's both turning and milling.
I've found the carbide holds up much better than HSS. Even the easy
plastics like Delrin are abrasive and dull cutters rapidly.

For milling I use high positive, ground, polished inserts from
Walter. For turning the same type inserts from HB Rouse Company.
The inserts are as sharp as any HSS cutters I've seen. With the
high polish the chips slip right off so there isn't much frictional
heat build up. These same inserts work very well in aluminum for
the same reasons.
