Personally, I think its absolutely appropriate to take a position in
this case. I've never bought anything from Fred, but, based on his
efforts I've seen here and on other groups toward product support, if
the occasion arises that I need something he sells, I certainly
wouldn't hesitate to buy from him. I find it rather unusual the
lengths guys like Fred and several others who sell lower end products
go to in supporting users, while the sellers of high end stuff that
costs as much as a house have the idea that "support" involves sending
some clown out to stare at a machine for a hundred+ bucks an hour. A
buddy of mine spent $1300 a while back for one of these "technicians"
to locate and replace a blown fuse in a turning center control. My
buddy can now tell you where every fuse is located in every machine he
owns without even opening any of the doors on the panels :)
