I'd rather talk about the future. DeskCNC is without a doubt the
best, released, low cost Cam program available. It will become more
powerful and probably have a two tiered versioning very soon. It is
100% made in the USA, and luckily (for me) I get to have a large
input into it's future direction and it is usually a pleasure to
support. It also happens to be the fastest under $400, windows
machine controller.
Vector is published is English, German, Dutch, French, and Italian.
In Europe Vector is distributed with a more expensive technique,
including a lot of cu$tom programming and in person visits by sales
and support personnel. US and other international English language
users benefit from this because the code base has to pass the
personal touch in Europe. The standard is very high, major bugs are
not tolerated and minor bugs have very short lives.
We handle most of the English versions, including new development.
Our MTB scripting was produced in Jackson, Michigan by Wayne Hill
(Lathe Quick Code - Wayne Hill). Because of the success that
IMService has had in distributing ( and supporting) Vector, we have a
major part in future plans. That usually is organized to avoid
overlaps between DeskCNC and Vector. The next version of Vector will
be a major enhancement, in addition to all the minor enhancements
that we have provided at no charge to our customers through out the
Vector 9.6 cycle. The current build of Vector 9.6 is over 50. New
builds are about equally comprised of minor bug fixes and new
features.
