My understanding is that Bobcad was named after/by Bob Twaalfhoven.
But, there apparently were two brothers, Bob and I think Dave.
My understanding is that Bob set up a Florida office, and Dave set up a
California
office. They had a parting of the ways. I also think Vector is the
descendant of the once
common Bobcad code, as further developed by brother Dave.

Please don't flame me if this is way off, these are little bits and
pieces I picked
up from the net over the years.
