Hi
Nema 34's on b/port are a bit small. They would probably be ok for X and Y with some of higher torque. I've looked at alot of b/port conversions and most of them have Nema 42 29lb/in or greater.
I retrofitted a Bridgeport and here is the basic configuration: 40lb/in DC brush servos on X,Y and Z with US digital E5S-200 encoders retrofitted rated at 40v/k 2500 Rpm making them 100volt and 13.7 amps stall torque 29 amps. The Geckos will not handle 100 volts so I'm running them at a lesser voltage sacrificing a bit of speed but still have the torque because I can still supply the amperage. Mach 2 software. Sound Logic Mach2 breakout board for interface which makes it all work together very well. It will easily maintain rapids of 120 ipm on X and Y and 60 ipm rapids on Z as I am driving the knee.
I've been using it for 14 months on a daily basis and have had zero problems with it. The only complaint I have is chips get in the keyboard. Now I'm starting to change the wiring a bit so the PC has to be on before the servo control will start for safety concerns and I hate to mess with it because it runs perfectly. Never lost a step.
