Your'e on the right track with the voltages you're trying to measure on the
Dir pin.
Make sure that Mach2 is set up to point to the address of the port(first
page of Config/Ports& Pins), and that the port is enabled.
Make sure that Mach2 is set up to output the Step and Dir signals for at
least one motor, and that the port/pin settings are correct for those
outputs.
Make sure that Mach2 has the outputrs set to "Active Low.
Make sure you have run +5V to the Gecko Commons.

Howdy,
I'm having some trouble interfacing my PC to my set of G320's. I have one
drive fully wired to a servo, and I'm trying to use Mach2 to get the thing
to spin. I installed Mach2 and set it to output step to pin 1 of the
parellel port and direction to pin 2. After trying to jog the servo for a
while with no success, I decided to check into problems I might have with
the parellel port. The first obvious one I found was that it wasn't enabled
in the bios. . . so I of course enabled it, happy that I had most likely
solved the problem. Unfortunatly that wasn't it. My first question is if
there is any simple way to test output. Lacking a scope, I tried testing the
logic level of the direction pin as I "jog" Mach2 in different dirrections.
I would expect to see something around 0 volts for one direction and
something around 5 volts for the other. . . right? My other question I guess
is if there is some common problem I could be overlooking. Anyone have a
simple fix?
Thanks,
John
