Yes, e-stop and end switches then need to be in the controller.
That's why is would have to be a smart controller.

It was about a year ago when the first public tests were becomming
available for this stuff and many of the software vendors we use have
prototypes to work around.

and HAS BEEN for the last year.
The question of WHEN it will be a final product is another thing
entirely.
As the saying goes, it takes 90% of the time to do 90% of the work
and another 90% of the time to do 90% of the remaining work and
another 90% of the time.....
