Hi Brady,

I don't know what the relays are for. I didn't use them. My breakout
board already has 3 relays on it to control drives, spindle and coolant.

Mach2 will accept normally open or normally closed contacts for the
limit switches but normally closed is safer. With my setup all the
switches run in series to an opto isolated input. One word of warning -
the limit switches on the Z axis are sensitive to vibration. It took me
ages to figure out why the machine was intermittently stopping when
taking heavier cuts. I fixed the problem by putting 10uF capacitors
across the contacts. They slow down the response slightly so if the
contacts bounce, Mach2 does not see it.

All of the limit switches are wired normally closed but they are all
changeover contacts so you have the option to wire normally open if you
want.
