One point to be noted in this discussion.

The rate at which a system is monitored or updated does not effect the
definition
of open or closed loop. If it detects errors and takes automatic corrective
actions
then it's closed loop.

Turn on tap, Fill kettle, When full turn off tap, is a closed loop
circuit/cycle

The rate of monitor/correction is part of it's defining accuracy.
