Another data point.
A friend of mine who was a machinist for 20 years up until 5 or 6 years
back related to me that the machines he worked on would just stop on a
following error. Then he would have to get the tool back to where it
was supposed to be, get the program back to where it was supposed to
be, and restart.
He talked about hard stops (big errors) and soft stops (smaller
errors). I told him about this configuration and the thought it sounded
really similar in concept.
So.......this combination of hardware and software sounds really close
to a good deal of commercial stuff for all intents and purposes. At
least to me.
Don't let perfection get in the way of good enough? I'm sold. I do want
to see how the G101 figures into all this. Still doing reading on that.
