On-Semi have a CS1124, its a VR (Variable Reluctance) Dual Ch sensor interface with a DO, This can be used a Zero crossing detector and it has very few components around it ...
or the LM1815 but you would need 2 of these

No, it doesn't. The AD processors for resolver/inductosyn sensors
require AC excitation of the driving coil, and picking up AC signals from
the sensing coils. These signals vary in sin/cos amplitude fashion, but
are basically
AC signals that are either in phase or 180 degrees out of phase with the
exiting signal. I suspect that it would be possible to convert the optical
encoder signals to those that the 2S1200 could take, but it would require
a fair bit of external circuitry. If the zero crossing point for the
encoder's
signals could be accurately set, it would improve the encoder resolution
by a factor of, I think, 4096 times.
