John:
I use Mach3, and I have an MPG that I added "clicks" to. I have
programmed mach 3 to know that her are 4 pulses per click, and there are
different "modes" for MPG use in mach3, so I am not limited to one
choice of behavior. In the "single step" mode, the MPG will move the
axis "1 unit"(separately settable to whatever step size I want) no
matter how many clicks the MPG moves. In the "multi-step" mode, the axis
will move 1 "unit" per click. In the step/velocity mode, the axis will
transition from "multi-step" mode to a mode where it moves at a speed
proportional to the rotational speed of the MPG. It will do this
transition at a speed that is separately programmed or set into the
system.
So I guess the answer I will give you is "all of the above", in mach3.

Hi guys,
I have a question for people who are using a Manual Pulse Generator on
their
system. If it has detents and you can feel it click how far do you have
your table programmed to move per click.
If you twist it more rapidly than the table can move, does the table
continue to move after the twisting of the MPG is done?
I guess I'm asking if the MPG is programmed to move 0.005 per click and
you
give the knob a whirl that moves the knob 0.100 equivalent distance at a
speed that would be 10x the slew rate does the table move 0.100 or does
it
just go until the knob stops?
Thanks,
John Dammeyer
