Re: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] MPG behaviour

Hi John,

My encoder is implemented in my STEP4 controller program, not a
commercial product. It uses an HP panel shaft encoder, 256 lines or so,
as I recall. I decode 256 counts/rev, and there are no "detents". I
have a Sherline axis handle on it, and it turns easily, but cannot be
said to "spin" (maybe I will try a heavy knob sometime).

Counts generated faster then the axis can respond are ignored. I can
set the distance to be moved per count, and the rate to move at (I
generate a series of incremental moves).

I use a pair of push buttons along with the encoder on a pendant. One
push button cycles through an "increment" cable, and the other cycles
through the axis.

No exact correlation between the knob and the move exists, the axis
could be said to continue to move until the knob movement stops.
