I've also been trying to get information about their "SPI" interface
but without success.

Their documentation states "SPI communication is little known to
average PC users" and, I suspect that also applies to Rutex if they
are talking about SPI as originally standardised by Motorola. At the
very least, you could not hook up multiple drives to a micro with a
Motorola compatible SPI without additional interfacing as the drives
do not have a connection for acting as /SlaveSelect.
