Diamond cutters went out of fashion as wheel cutters are easier to guide by
hand. A CNC router doesn't have that problem. Both give the same result.

Diamond & wheel cutter (either steel or tungsten) can't break the glass,
only score it. Even if you apply pressure as you are cutting, it still
won't break, or if it does, the break will be unpredictable as there is no
score line to follow yet.

You'll find the machine you linked to can only do certain shapes. I'm not
sure how it breaks the glass, but it most likely does it in two steps, first
it scores then it goes back and applies pressure. The pressure needs to be
applied to the other side of the glass (opposite the score line), so the
pressure comes from the table. Interesting the article talks about the
table keeps its flatness for a long time - an odd thing to say...

Either that or they've figured out some other way, either by heating the
scores or tapping it.
