Hi Art,
I'm in the Mach3 group daily, sometimes hourly. So I'm playing and
testing Mach1 and the various wizards. So there will be questions I'm
sure.
Thanks,
Mike

have to. That list is listed as a service to the less than 2% or so of
people that need it. If your computer runs MAch3 fine, then no
optimising is necessary. I run Mach3 on a vastly complex system of
hundreds of installed applications, development systems, Driver
debuggers, ect.. and have never had to optimise, some computers dont
like optimising at all, and its best to leave everything intact unless
you have to go there due to some instability. All I recommend is
turning off the items in the msconfig/startup tab if you have any
doubts. Other than that over 98% of people have no trouble.. I base
those numbers of trouble reports over the past year or two. With over
7000 users of Mach3, I have less than 300 people over the last 2 years
that truly needed optimising.. But I know of at least 100 who got into
trouble optimising when they didnt have to.. :)

> This is true as well of using 45Khz mode when only 25Khz mode is
needed. Never increase core speeds unless you have to. 25Khz mode of
Mach3 will eat up a good 30% of your CPU, and since Mach3 runs
Windows, not the other way around, you wont notice the loss of CPU
speed, or wIndows wont anyway, so its best to leave windows all the
power you can. 45Khz mode is stressfull to windows and you need a good
machine to run it. Luckily, the new external devices run much faster
with no drag on Windows.

> Mach3's Gcode is not the same as CNC-Pro, but its close in most
areas. It follows very closely the EMC interpreter other than things
such as compensation being different in that Mach3 does lookahead
comp, and things such as G68 for coordinate rotation, and several
other added Gcodes over the years. In most cases, if EMC has a Gcode,
MAch3 does as well. (Mach3 is based after all on the original EMC
interpreter. ). Its planner is also very close, but heavily modified.
The new Quantum planner is SCurve profiled so it is new , but Mach's
emulates EMC very tightly in most areas of GCode interpretation..and
CNC-Pro is pretty close in most codes, but not all.

still unsure as to the efficacy across various USB bridges and
motherboards of CNC via USB, but the pod here seems to run very well
and robustly. ThePlugin for it is free and is on the downloads page of
the Mach3 websites plugin downloads. Mach3 now drives printerports,
Galil cards, the ncPod, the G100, and will soon drive Delta Tau PMac
controllers. Other devices will come out as we catch up with requests
for PlugIns. (Seems to be an ever growing list of devices
manufacturers want attached....).
