This is just plain wrong!
Under WinXP, navigate to the file using Start>All
Programs>Accessories>Windows Explorer.
When the window opens, click on My Computer and navigate to the drive and
directory (folder) in which the file acad.exe resides.
RightMouseClick on the file to bring up the context sensitive menu and
select Properties, then select the Compatibility tab.
Checkmark the Compatibiltiy mode box and select the operating system you
want the program to run under, Win95, Win98, whatever.
Then select the display setting you want and select apply.
This should solve your problem. I have a friend whos running R14 on a XP
SP2 machine so the service packs are not your problem.

My wife uses AutoCAD 2002.
She had a Windows 2000 Pro computer.
She upgraded to new machine with XP Pro.
An XP update made her AutoCAD unsuable.
A System Restore, to before the updates, fixed AutoCAD.
It happened again. Turned off auto updates.
Called the AutoCAD dealer.
AutoCAD 2002 upgrades will be discontinued soon.
An upgrade from 2002 to 2007 costs over $3000.
Keep an older version of Windows around!
