Look into the EU on the net for Autocad suppliers.
Autocad dont like dealers to sell cross border, but it is illegal to stop
them from doing so under EU law.
There are several dealers in the EU that offer full Autocad a lot cheaper
because there is specifically no telephone support, your looking at a few
hundred pounds.
Ive bought 2004 and 2006 this way, comes with a full receipt, its and
internet download, and registers properly on the Autocad site.
The Uk dealers get very upset saying the EU ones are breaking Autocad trade
guide lines, they also claim it might be a beta version, but generally it
seems stable. I can put up with the occasional crash to keep a few thousand
bucks in my pocket. The dealers even recognise it as legit, or at least they
offer to upgrade it for £1500.
Trouble with Autocad is all optional extras are loads more money, things
like electrical, sheetcam, inventor etc.
The alternative is solid works, I think this is just under £1000 still a
heck of a lot of money, but it is supposed to come with all options. It also
looks to be loads better at 3D drawing. Many many companies I deal with are
going over to solid works.

My wife uses AutoCAD 2002.
She had a Windows 2000 Pro computer.
She upgraded to new machine with XP Pro.
An XP update made her AutoCAD unsuable.
A System Restore, to before the updates, fixed AutoCAD.
It happened again. Turned off auto updates.
Called the AutoCAD dealer.
AutoCAD 2002 upgrades will be discontinued soon.
An upgrade from 2002 to 2007 costs over $3000.
Keep an older version of Windows around!
