Yes, TurboCAD has come a very long way. It is now (V12) a full featured
3D solid modeler. There are CAM addons available. It has, however,
focused a lot on the Architectural market, so it has lots of features
like photo-realistic renderings, lots of house symbols, special drawing
tools like a 'wall' tool etc.

If you want to buy it I suggest you find an older version, often on
ebay, or even at places like Best Buy. You should be able to get it for
about $50. Then register your copy, and it wont be long before you get a
telephone sales call offring you an upgrade. Tell them the price is to
high, and the sales voice will 'go talk to my manager' and pretty soon
you will have the full upgrade for under $200, often with the training
videos thrown-in. Never buy it for list price!

I use TurboCAD and like it. I do fairly simple mechanical stuff with it.
I can not understand how autocad gets away with such outrageous prices
for a program that many say it terrible to use.
