Hi Archie,
You made a good choice, the other book mentioned, and also the Autocad Reference Guide, is like reading War and Peace without the story. I have spent a fortune on "How to Use Acad" books and got nowhere further than 2d wireframe and 3d solids, until I found "Just Enough Autocad".
My retro-fit is not going to well. I have the ballscrews and the ballnut housings machined and I've just finished a lubrication system, yet to be expanded to automatic. My machine is a Breaver (Bridgeport clone), probably war finish and it has seen better days but it has been abused rather than used. The leadscrew arrangement is for seperate mounts for each leadscrew rather than the banjo method on the Bridgeport and I haven't even begun to think about the Z axis.
My prognostication can easily be explained away by saying I'm in the parts collecting stage but even that can't last much longer. I have treadmill motors, ballscrews, encoders, geckos, bits for the power supply and even a spare PC. All that is missing is belts and pulleys.
I think it is time to pull my finger out and do it.....................
Regards,
Terry
Terry,
I Just ordered the book on Amazon. Thank you.
as for the retrofit. the machine Is a CNC Servo Machine. It is a
Bridgeport R2E4 with a Boss 9 Control. I have gotten it to come up a
couple of times and was able to jog it on all 3 axises so hopefully I
can get it to limp along with a breakout board, the Pixie
interface/converter cards and Mach3. this is my first cnc machine and
the learning curve has been pretty steep. fortunatly for me I understand
the elecctronics/electrical pretty well. I plan to run the spindle with
a VFD and run the whole machine off of single phase.
How is your retrofit coming.
Thanks again
archie =) =) =)
