Ok That at least mean the backlash is truly there.

Was hoping it was just a measurement problem.

I have tried using the .0001" indicator on the saddle and I get the
same readings. I have not mentioned that I have glass scales on both
the X and Y axis and they concur with my indicator readings.

I have tried various gib adjustments, hence the use of a scale to
measure the force to move the saddle and table.
