I had the same problem for my Maxnc, and Faro Arm CMM.
Here is the solution.
By a Dell Laptop with a docking station, install XP, instead of Vista or W7.
Works very well.

From what I read, the cnc programs utilize the parallel printer port for control. Many of the newer computers, especially laptops, do not have this port. What do other do to work around this problem?
