I understand better now what you are saying, many thanks.

Have you checked the BIOS settings for the printer anyway.....just in case it is setting to something that Win2K likes, but XP does not?

Have you measured (for example) the output current as 5ma sourcing, if true, that is twice the allowed max, but as good as NO CURRENT in the real world......

You need to bring a few facts here........measure with a DVM and let us knwm both the resistance to ground of the input to the BOB (measure on the cable between ground and each outup to the BOB in Ohms) or insert the DVM and measure the milliampere, either will tell us a lot.....If you have the schematic of the BOB, maybe the resistor values are marked....
