Do you want to thing about that a bit more?
USB to Parallel converters are not suitable for 'creating' a parallel port even
for 'slow' signals which you just want to switch on and off. They are designed
to handle parallel printers and little else. Certainly no use as a replacement
for a driect parallel connection to the processor.

You need an add on card that picks up the parallel bus, such as a PCMCA card,
although even those can be a little 'slow'.

I've been playing with a couple of PCI buss cards to add extra parallel ports,
but I'm finding that XP can have trouble starting up with breakout boards
attached. No proble what so ever with W2k - so I've simply dropped back to that ;)
