on an X Y table. I have not completed the project to the point of actually
having motors hooked to the table, but in moving the table by hand I am very
impressed with the smoothness of motion and the total lack of play. Even
less play than with linear ball type bearings. Philadelphia resins also
tells you to not mix the material in partial batches, but to just at the
total hardener to the resin. But, they do give you the net grams of material
for both the resin and the hardener on the package labels. So, I calculated
the ratio by weight and used a digital .01 gram scale to weigh out the
proportion for the amount of material I wanted to mix up. Did 4 batches this
way and it seems to have worked fine.
I applied the material by sealing one end of the bore around my shaft with
silicone caulk and built up a dam around the other end with the press on
type rope calk. I then just s l o w l y poured the material into the bore
from one side and let it flow around the shaft. I continued to add enough
material to fill all the way into the dam.
