Just a quick comment/vent - if anyone plans on ordering moglice (the
low friction epoxy for casting low backlash nuts - www.moglice.com)
you might want to ask what shipping is going to cost.
Imagine my suprise at being charged $12.75 for shipping on 100 grams
($35) of material...
I assume it's a UPS hazmat surcharge... not really significant in the
scheme of things, but annoying nonetheless.
Hopefully the results will be worth it... I have to machine something
to hold the nut that will fit the cross slide first... and of course I
hate to take the machine down during the prime project period
(weekend), so I will probably do the casting Sunday night. I'm going
to cast it in place with the saddle clamped upright to an angle block,
so that proper alignment is automatic. Will probably squirt it into
the bottom end of the sleeve through some kind of drilled passage and
let it overflow into a modeling-clay dammed resevoir at the top.
Anyone else tried this?
