Thanks for the warning. According to Bruce the tech guy at Devitt
machinery rolled thread screws often have inconsistent major diameters
(ie uneven crests), and this can be a real problem for moglice nuts.
He suggested using teflon pipe tape as a release agent, so that is what
I will try for the first nut.

I'm going to do it at work where I can use the precision lab balance
to measure out about 25 grams in the proper mixture from the 10 gram
kit, which should be plenty to do a single 3/8" nut. I fully expect
to do it again at some point in the near future, maybe on new unworn
acme rod stock. I might even try to do the leadscrew, since it is not
slotted on the "9" South Bend model C-NC" (as I have taken to calling
it)
