The "el-cheapo" method is to put the whole impact wrench on a pair of columns with a spring. To engage or disengage a collet
you pull down then hit the lever "in" or "out". When you release, the whole thing pops up off the drawbar nut.
The Kurt and others are a little more sophisticated (although still use an impact wrench) and I am not sure how they
engage/disengage.
It would be pretty easy to duplicate the cheap ones. Watch over torque-ing the threads though. Use regulated air to get the
torque down.
Note that the impact wrench we are talking about here is the small 3/8" butterfly style. Not the big-uns.
