The reason I'd really like to find a dead automatic saw is because they
are setup to do precision infeed of materials. Mechanically everything
is there already. I used to work in a shop that had one controlled by
air logic. That thing was always messing up, would do things like open
the vise jaw and try to feed material while the blade was buried in the
cut! Nobody could figure it out so the owner would sit behind it and
cuss/swear for hours while tinkering. He'd eventually get it going and
it'd run for another couple months. Ideally, I'd like to walk in the
door in the middle of the cuss/swear session, and offer to haul the
problem away cheap...<G>
Even in the worst case, it'd be fairly simple to set one of these up to
run manually while working out the automation. And Pride Saw, an outfit
that sells and sharpens the blades for these is only 1/4 mile down the
road from me.
